If you already have cable TV service and HD-DVR, DVD recorder with digital tuner, will not be as meaningful. However, there are still some things you do with a DVD recorder with digital tuner .. do let me explain.
For the record, you want a DVD recorder with QAM tuner, in addition to the ATSC. The QAM tuner to tune digital channels that your cable company does not code (for example) in the frame.
If you have an HD DVR from your cable company, you can not record VOD (Video On Demand) entertainment / movies in the DVR. So, if you want to save some programs to play on another TV, you're lucky ... Well, you're not a DVD burner.
